From December 2020, the IET Tribology Technical Network are starting a new initiative to introduce the members of their Executive team to the wider Tribology community.  We start this month with an introduction to our colleague Kranthi Maniam who has a doctorate in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India.5af926130450193027b4714d991d59b3-huge-kranthi-maniam---image.jpgBesides the research compatibility, Kranthi has experience of setting a high industry benchmarks in its core competency by developing the products/process from lab/pilot scale to industrial scale and acknowledging the efforts. He also has industrial experience in an engineering consultancy and R& D industries such as Atotech and served as an Assistant General Manager- Technical at Vishnu Group, India.

Kranthi’s primary research and engineering activities revolve around electrodeposition of metal and metal alloys, corrosion resistant coatings, wear resistant coatings, fuel cells and surface finishing. He presented his work in various international conferences and is currently a member of Institute of Science and Technology (IST and an active reviewer of “International Journal of Energy Research”, “International Journal of Hydrogen Energy”.

Kranthi joined IET in 2018 as member and would like to contribute to the engineering community and work towards improving the societal needs. With a rich research experience and a genuine interest to learn, he strongly believes that he can make a significant contribution towards improving his standards, contribute to the engineering community and shall strive to set a benchmark throughout the professional career.

Currently, Kranthi is working as a Marie Curie Fellow at the Materials Innovation Centre, School of Engineering, University of Leicester, Leicester (United Kingdom). He loves to explore more on the current trends in tribology with focus on materials in automotive, aerospace and fastener industry. He enjoys reading books, exploring new materials, knowing about people and of course, being a volunteer.
