Welcome to the 2016-17 session which commences with the Network’s event in support of
World Space Week.  We’ve two excellent speakers in Vanessa Lawrence and Ralph Cordey presenting on Remote Sensing satellite Systems for Global Sustainability  on 10 October 2016 in London.  There’s still time to register for this event.

The Network have also just finished judging the Game Changing Satellite Applications poster competition.  Congratulations to the winner Paul Iliffe, who receives a free place to attend the Reinventing Space Conference later this month, courtesy of the conference organisers.

Following on from the excellent event on the Rosetta Spacecraft  which we organised earlier in the summer with the Aerospace and Robotics & Mechatronics Networks, we managed to persuade the speakers to share their slides with us and they also agreed to answer questions from those of you who weren’t able to come along to the event.  With the recent crashing of Rosetta onto 67P, this represents an opportune moment to post your questions via the above link, which I hope you will pick up.

I’m looking forward to meeting up with the network volunteers at their next committee meeting this Friday, when we’ll be reviewing the programme for the rest of the session.  We’re also looking for new volunteers for the Network’s Executive Team especially female engineers/academics working in the satellite systems and applications area. We would particularly welcome volunteers who are able to contribute proactively to our Engineering Community group.  If you are interested in joining the Executive Team please contact me.

Don’t forget to read our Chairman Chris Brunskill’s welcome blog  and I hope to see you at one of the forthcoming events.
