Railway Quiz 2017

The IET Railway Network Quiz challenged the teams knowledge of all aspects of the railway industry – in a quite demanding way!

Hosted by our quiz-master Peter Sheppard, the IET Railway Network Quiz night is an annual event that takes place at Doggett’s Coat and Badge pub near Blackfriars Bridge and we supplied a free buffet which was sponsored by Ricardo Rail.

The quiz was an ideal event for people interested in networking with railway professionals and did not only challenge their knowledge on railway but also encouraged an enjoyable evening with peers in the industry and have some fun.  We had teams from AECOM, Apollo Train Control, CPC Systems, Network Rail, Ricardo, RSSB, Transport for London and London Underground.

With a full house, 47 attendees and 8 teams, it was all to play for.

Teams:
  1. CPC Systems

  • Gaggle of Shunters

  • Beer, Gears and Engineers

  • The Flying Pants

  • Trainonauts

  • RSSB Newbies

  • 5 Signallers and an engineer

  • Fouling Points

With 120 points up for grabs, there were questions on General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Signalling, Electrification, Rolling Stock/Traction, New Railways in London, Metro and Tramway, True/False, Civils & P-Way, Matching up Trivia, the Picture round, plus the name the unusual object.

The eventual winners of the IET goodie bags were RSSB Newbies who were very surprised that they had won.  Well done.

The Railway TPN and the YP Group  would like to thank Ricardo Rail for their support. A big vote of thanks must also go to Peter Sheppard for taking on the challenging role of Quiz Master and preparing all those fiendish questions.

Plus we can’t forget Bob Wilson and Clive Kessel for helping out and also all the teams that supported the event once again.
