We are delighted to share further information on another one of our expert speakers from the programme for the Future of Medicine event; Mr Kai-Lik Foh, Senior Manager, mHealth, he will be speaking on the very important topic “The opportunities and challenges of telemedicine in developing countries.”

The shortage of healthcare expertise and infrastructure is a global problem, but nowhere more apparent than in developing countries. Telemedicine, particularly leveraging the ubiquity of mobile, has the opportunity not only to impact on health education, but also in the areas of diagnosis, treatment and follow up. There are a number of technology innovations which already make this possible today.

Regulations on healthcare practice and funding will however need to evolve to be able to fully leverage this opportunity, coupled with the design of business models which optimise the role of the private sector in driving this forward.

Kai-lik currently leads the mHealth component of the GSMA mNutrition programme, providing oversight of programme delivery and technical assistance across Sub-Saharan Africa. He has 10 years of healthcare related experience prior to joining the GSMA, driving business development in Asia for one of the world’s largest healthcare informatics companies, as well as running operational effectiveness programs across one of Singapore’s major public healthcare networks.

Prior to that he held consulting roles in IBM as well as for Singapore’s info-communications development agency. Kai-lik also holds an MBA from London Business School and a BA (Hons) from Oxford University.
