Giordano Scarciotti, 2016 winner

“I am delighted and honoured to receive the 2016 IET Control & Automation Ph.D. Award. During my Ph.D. studies I always worked to connect theoretical results with applications. I found that many control theoretical results can benefit other research fields, such as the ones of power systems and power electronics. This award is an incentive to continue pursuing a research direction in which theory and practice have equal importance.”

Jonathan Carlos Mayo-Maldonado, 2015 winner

"I am very pleased and honoured to receive this prestigious award. During my Ph.D studies, I had the opportunity to work on a very challenging topic that demanded a lot of hard work and well-articulated thoughts. I am glad that the results obtained were published in a number of journals in different disciplines such as Automatic Control and Industrial Electronics, corroborating the theoretical and practical advantages that were proposed in the thesis. The IET Doctoral Dissertation Award represents an invigorating experience that remind me the merits obtained from an open mind and hard work and also encourage me to always pursue the highest standards in my scientific career".
