We are currently seeking to recruit new proactive volunteers across all four Networks i.e. Humber, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire to join us for the 2016-17 session. Membership of the committee offers considerable scope for supporting engineering and technology activities and initiatives in many different ways across the region.

IET members of all ages and membership grades are welcome to help refresh our Networks and maximise our relevance in Yorkshire & Humber.

Here are some of the benefits of volunteering:

  • committee engagement counts towards Continuing Professional Development points;

  • gain essential career experience i.e. leadership, publicity (including social media), event organisation, budget/finance management;

  • contribute towards the societal responsibility of being a professional engineer;

  • gain more awareness of recent developments both within your own field of expertise and a wider area;

  • network and make new connections both within the IET and other organisations/institutions.

The area of involvement and the amount of time you spend is up to you, dependent on what you feel able to take on, from suggesting ideas and events, helping to arrange or publicise a visit or lecture, to taking on one of the key responsibilities on the committee.

If you are interested, please contact the appropriate Local Network Chairman below telling them a bit about yourself and where your interests lie.  Alternatively you may like to come along to one of the upcoming local events to discuss your interest with them and to gain an insight into what the Networks do.

Humber – Phil Rubini

North Yorkshire – Faye Banks

South Yorkshire – John Lawrence

West Yorkshire – Crinela Pislaru

Thank you for reading this, and I hope you’ll consider joining us as an active volunteer, you can make a big difference, and the skills, contacts and experience you gain in the process can be highly rewarding.
