About ESAS16

The DE&S Symposium is the UK MOD's flagship Equipment Safety and Environmental event held at MOD Abbey Wood Bristol and is attended by around 300 people from the MOD, Industry and Academia over a two day period.

2016 Theme

DE&S is currently undertaking an unprecedented programme of transformation during which it must continue to engineer and deliver major equipment programmes and support them safely and responsibly. In addition, the recent formation of the Defence Safety Authority (DSA) has brought together all of the safety and environmental regulators into a single organisational construct along with the creation of the Defence Accident Investigation Branch (DAIB) all of which is changing the safety and environmental landscape.

This year the symposium's theme is 'Engineering for Defence - Safely and Responsibly' and we will be considering topics such as setting evidenced based regulation, autonomous systems, cyber / safe and secure systems, sustainability, in-service safety management and the workings of the coroners court.
