SSIET was established on 13 January 2010. It was formed by a group of students from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus who joined the IET.

1. Background
Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak campus located in the state’s capital of Kuching is the only international branch campus of Swinburne University of Technology. The modern campus sits on 16.5 acres of land and is equipped with advanced teaching & learning facilities. Situated just 10 minutes from the airport and city centre, the campus is home to students from over 50 countries The campus offers undergraduate courses in business, design, engineering, computing and science as well as postgraduate studies by coursework and research.
Kuching city is well-known for its relaxed lifestyle, clean and safe environment, close proximity to nature and friendly people. English is widely spoken in addition to the national language Bahasa Malaysia and others such as Bahasa Sarawak, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tamil, Hindi and more.
