11 students from different backgrounds of engineering field attended “MATLAB Workshop”, a software introductory workshop organised by Swinburne Sarawak IET OC at the university’s campus (Building E) on 17 November 2018.


Swinburne Sarawak IET OC was honored to invite Dr. Tay Fei Siang as the speaker of the workshop who has up to 9 years teaching experience at Swinburne University of Technology.


The workshop was designed to introduce the software to students of various backgrounds.


Throughout the workshop, participants were exposed the fundamentals of MATLAB. Participants familiarized themselves with the concept of variables and learned to develop and run several mathematical algorithms. This was then followed by introduction of array and matrix. Participants were asked to generate random matrix with specific requirements. In addition, flowchart, function file and script file were also introduced. From here, participants learned to plot 2D graph.


“I get to learn topics that are not in my unit’s syllabus,” said one of the participants.
