[UCSI IET OC]:180712 Site Visit To Malaysia Meteorological Department

Objective
To expose students to radar and satellite technologies which are used to detect and predict the weather.
To understand and learn the workings on how the weather can be read, monitored, and displayed in real-time.
To understand how predictions and forecasting is done to prevent or minimize casualties.
To witness the working of equipment.
To get a glimpse of career possibilities as a Communications major.
Details The event begins by gathering and registering the students at Block A lobby
and will travel to Malaysian Meteorological Department by bus. The estimated number of participants is 40. Upon reaching the destination, the host will provide an introduction about their nature of business and also a briefing. After the briefing and Q&A session, the host will usher the participants around their site for a visual demonstration. The event will end after the tour and a journey back to USCI South Wing.
Learning Outcome
Students were expose to technology that helps them understand and learn the workings on how the weather can be read, monitored, and displayed in real-time.
Students were also shown how predictions and forecasting is done to prevent or minimize casualties.
Besides rain and thunderstorms, students also had a glimpse of the earthquake detection and warning system as well as the ocean waves and wind detection system
