By bringing together a variety of stakeholders from primary and secondary education, industry, and local and national government, this event will allow delegates to explore the latest education developments, share knowledge and expertise, and champion best practice.


One of the Scotland Policy Panel and IET Scotland committee members, Paul McKenna, was a Panellist at this event. 

c32e68084f0892f16219573dda8bbeeb-huge-paul-mckenna.jpgPaul holds a Master’s degree from Strathclyde University in Communications, Control & Digital Signal Processing and a BSc. with Hons. in Physics from the University of Glasgow. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Member of the Institute of Learning & Teaching and the Institute of Measurement & Control. Paul is currently a Senior Lecturer in Control Systems and Learning, Teaching & Quality lead for Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University.

    

Areas of research interest include Control of Offshore Equipment in the Oil & Gas Industry, Wireless Monitoring & Control Systems, Multi-body Computational Dynamics, Complex Systems Modelling and Wind Turbine Modelling and Control. As well as academic pursuits Paul has also designed and built three dimensional training simulators for Corus Steel and produced computer based training for Driving Schools.


Paul has been invited to serve on various professional body advisory panels to Government, most recently the Engineering Policy Group Scotland (EPGS).


Previously, Paul  also served on joint professional body advisory panels to brief the Scottish Parliament on Energy Policy and has also been invited to serve as an external subject expert by several agencies including the Scottish Qualifications Agency to advise on Engineering provision in the Curriculum for Excellence.
