Do you remember someone from early in your career who supported and inspired you to become the professional you are today?

Could you be that person for someone working toward Professional Registration?

Following the success of the first Mentoring Awareness Week in 2015 where we recruited 25 new mentors, The IET Mentoring Service are happy to announce the 2016 Mentoring Awareness week.  This week of activity recognises the work done by those volunteering through the IET Volunteer Mentoring Service and also seeks new mentors to support those working toward professional registration.

If you are already professionally registered with the IET, and have just a few hours a month to share with another member and feel that you could pass on your experience and support a developing engineer outside of your immediate workplace then the IET Mentoring Service want to hear from you.

We are particularly interested in hearing from members working in new and emerging areas of technology where we may not already have coverage such as biomedical engineering, optical engineering and renewable energy as well as more traditional roles such as manufacturing, design and production or project management.  For the first time, we are also actively recruiting professionally registered members from outside the UK who may be interested in mentoring on a predominantly e-mentoring basis.

There is further information, and an application form available on the IET website at:www.theiet.org/mentor, or contact the team at: mentoring@theiet.org to find out more information.
