This Is Engineering Day – 6 November 2019

6 November 2019 is the day to make that extra effort to inspire and assist the potential engineers in our communities. The most important thing is to tell aspiring engineers what we do, helping them to realise that engineering is accessible and rewarding for people like them. I’m inviting anyone who’s interested to share some ideas below by replying to the blog – the best one get’s a shout out on Twitter with a bonus prize on 6 November

This is Engineering Day – 6 November 2019

Please remember to mark this year’s “This is Engineering Day” on your calendars! 6 November 2019 is the day to make that extra effort to inspire and assist the potential engineers in our communities. It’s part of a whole week of fun - Tomorrow’s Engineers 2019!  You can get some activity ideas for yourself and for colleagues in the #TEWeek19 Toolkit, which is available at this link

The IET is sponsoring loads of events during “Tomorrow’s Engineers Week” like the live video stream “Big Assembly” at 1030 am on 6 November 2019. Students can enrol for that at this link and if they can’t make it, they can always watch on demand a day later. As usual, the IET’s education resources at this link can assist teachers, STEM Ambassadors, club organisers, home educators and many more.  The most important thing is to tell aspiring engineers what we do, helping them to realise that engineering is accessible and rewarding for people like them.

Most of the TE resources at this point are UK focused, yet they should be of use internationally too.  So, I’m inviting anyone who’s interested to share some ideas for TE Week 2019 below by replying – the best one gets a shout out on Twitter (with a bonus prize posted to them) on 6 November.  A warning though – you’re up against some stiff competition on social media from the schools and colleges of Kent and Medway so think big!  I’ve started us off with just one of their ideas.

Good luck!  Phil. 😀
