What would I do?
Schools Liaison Officers support opportunities for young people to learn about engineering. As part of the role you would:
- Exhibit at careers or science fairs
- Give careers presentations
- Support local educational projects
- Promote IET careers and education resources
Support will be there for you from IET staff and experienced schools liaison volunteers, and training will be provided from the IET and also the STEM Ambassador programme, which you would join.
No experience or special qualifications are required. You should have good communication skills and an active interest in the development of young people of all ages and abilities.
Introducing young people to engineering is a rewarding experience, and can contribute valuable continuing professional development. If you're concerned about your employer supporting your involvement in this activity we may be able to help.
If you are interested in volunteering please fill in the Schools Liaison Officer application form and email to email@example.com and we will get back to you to discuss the role.
