Welcome to the Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) Victoria Local Network. As the network’s Chairman, it gives me great pleasure in welcoming you to this year’s program of events which I hope you’ll enjoy and find informative.
The IET is one of the world’s largest engineering institutions, with over 168,000 members in 150 countries. It is also the most multidisciplinary, reflecting the increasingly diverse nature of engineering in the 21st century. The IET is working to engineer a better world by inspiring, informing and influencing our members, engineers and technicians, and all those who are touched by, or touch, the work of engineers. The IET has a presence in all states of Australia, with each state having its own network.
The IET Victoria Local Network comprises two sections. The main local network offers a range of general interest engineering-related events, and our Young Professionals Section (YPS), organises events tailored to students and early career engineers. The IET Victoria Local Network works closely with local industry, academia and other kindred organisations, in organising and delivering specialist events related to the Built Environment, Design & Production, Energy, Information & Communications and Transport. These events are open to both members and non-members alike. Guests are always welcome at all our events, so feel free to invite colleagues and friends!
The IET Victoria Local Network owes its success to the dedication of our Committee and our Volunteers. If you are interested in being a part of our team, we would love to hear from you, whether you’re a student, a young professional or an experienced expert wanting to give back to your profession. Over the coming months, you can expect a programme of technical lectures, social and networking opportunities, (Continuing Professional Development) CPD sessions and of course our annual Present Around the World (PATW) competition.
