I am very pleased to announce that Project Control Network have organised a webinar on 21st February between 2 and 3pm.

The Project Control Network is a founder member of the International Construction Measurement Standards (ICMS) Coalition, formed on 17 June 2015 at a formal meeting at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC.This initiative is the first of its kind with global coverage, bringing together 45 Professional Societies from around the world to create shared international standards for presenting entire construction costs.

ICMS are principles-based international standards that set out how to control and classify construction project costs in a structured and logical form. It is the first step in creating a seamless, global, pyramidal hierarchy of construction cost classifications.

The first edition of ICMS was published in July 2017 and covered capital costs. The second edition, covering life cycle costs, will be published in mid-2019. Alongside this, the RICS is preparing a global professional statement in cost prediction (a first global piece for the QS profession) to implement ICMS for RICS professionals and this will also be available in mid-2019. In addition, NRM 1, 2 and 3 are being adapted to incorporate ICMS for the UK market.

Over 60 global businesses have declared support for ICMS. This includes most major construction cost consultancies such as AECOM, Arcadis, Gleeds and Turner and Townsend, and, importantly, major end users such as Infrastructure Ontario in Canada, G20 Infrastructure Hub, Highways England and Network Rail.

This is a unique opportunity to hear more about International Construction Measurement Standards and ask any questions you may have.  You can sign up online

Our speaker is Alan Muse BSc (Hons) MSc FRICS, Global Director of Built Environment Standards RICS

Alan will be delivering his experience of project and cost management from an international view point, and offering guidance on how consistency can be met globally with the support of International Construction Measurement Standards (ICMS). The floor will then be open to questions on challenges you may be facing on this topic or questions specific to the ICMS.

Alan has over 30 years’ experience in construction, specialising in the project and cost management of schemes up to £4 billion. Overseas experience includes spells in both the Middle East and East Asia.

Since joining the RICS in May 2011, Alan has been involved in all aspects of the RICS response to the UK government construction strategy. Also, he leads international construction and BIM initiatives within the RICS including the development of skills, training and guidance for RICS members.

Finally, as a Global Director in Professional Groups he liaises with Chartered Surveyors on general matters of international standards development, international construction policy and global education and training.
