As the number of valid nominations is more than the number of vacancies, a poll for the election of Ordinary Members for the Branch Committee and the Railway and Transport  Section Committee are scheduled. Biography of each candidate is given as below:

 

Branch Committee
Candidate Biography:  
Ir MAY TSO
Ir May Tso received her engineering degree as Computer Engineer from the University of Hong Kong. She also later acquired her legal knowledge in her LLB study from the University of London. She was the Corporate Member of HKIE in Electronics (2013) and CAI disciplines (2017), and chartered by Engineering Council via IET in 2018.
May is a seasoned railway engineer with expertise in ticketing, software control systems and asset management. In particular, she was responsible for the infrastructural designs for quite a number of ticketing systems for the metro of Hong Kong. She has also taken part in preparing the new line opening for Operations. Since the High Speed Rail has run in Hong Kong, May has been responsible for strategies and liaison for works in West Kowloon station.



Candidate Biography: 
Ir DR SHUM YU HING
Ir Dr. YH Shum joined the Specialized Section in Electronics of the IEE Hong Kong in 1996, initially as Committee member, then the Secretary (Oct 1997 to Sep 2002), Treasurer (Oct 2002 to Sep 2004), Vice Chairman (Oct 2004 to Sep 2006) and Chairman (Oct 2006 to Sep 2006). He had rich experience in organizing IET events, e.g. International Symposium on Electronics in the Air Transport Industry 1998, 2000 & 2003, Asia Pacific Spectrum Management Policy Symposium 2009, Asia Pacific Radio Spectrum Conference 2010, 2012 & 2016, and Wireless Symposium 2020. He had served the Branch Committee from Oct 2010 to Sep 2013. Besides, he was also invited to be the Honorable Judge of the following : (a) Paper Competition “Safe and Sustainable Transport for Tomorrow (SAST)” organized by the Railway and Transportation Section Committee in 2012, (b) Present Around the World Hong Kong Region 2012 organized by Younger Member Section Committee, (c) Young Professionals Exhibition and Competition 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 organized by Younger Member Section Committee, and (d) Safety Inspection (Team Leader) of IET/MATE Hong Kong Regional – Underwater Robot Challenge 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019. Moreover, he also represented IET Hong Kong to join the following government advisory committees : Telecommunications Regulatory Affairs Advisory Committee (TRAAC) from Jul 2014 to Jun 2016 and Telecommunications Numbering Working Group (TNWG) from Jul 2013 to Jun 2016 of the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA). He is the Specialist (Engineering and Technology) of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) since 2011.

Dr. Shum has worked in the industry and education sector for 30 years and is now in charge of the Construction and Engineering Department of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tuen Mun). He is a Member of IET, Corporate member of HKIE, Senior Member of IEEE and Full member of HKCS.

Ir WU, SIU WA RICKY

MSc(Eng) MSc(Mktg) MBA CEng MIEE MHKIE MIEEE MCIM

Ir Ricky Wu was born and raised in Hong Kong, he graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University
specialized in mechanical and industrial engineering and polymer technology. Ricky holds Master
degrees from the City University of Hong Kong majored in materials engineering and nanotechnology,
and Baruch College of the City University of New York majored in marketing research. Besides, Ricky
also owns MBA degree from Richard Ivey School of Business of the Western University in Ontario
Canada.

Ir Ricky Wu holds corporate memberships in the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (MHKIE), the
Institution of Engineering & Technology (MIET), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
(MIEEE). Ricky was registered as the Chartered Engineer (CEng) by the Engineering Council UK since
2011. Ricky had actively served the IET HK as volunteer for more than 14 years. Ricky was the Chairman
of the Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Section of the 2016-2017 session while he is still
serving the IET as the IPRA in 2020.

Ir Ricky Wu is a veteran of more than 35 years experiences in the manufacturing industry, with 15+
years of which in senior managerial positions in large MNC’s. Ricky is currently the General Manager
and Senior Director of an U.S. multinational corporation focusing in outdoor products. Ricky’s recent
roles are more on corporate management, new product research and development, concept innovation,
design and engineering, and expertise building.



Candidate Biography:  
MR CHAN BRUCE
Ir Bruce Chan holds a bachelor degree in Computer Engineering and Master degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer, with corporate membership in HKIE (MHKIE), and the Institution of Engineering & Technology (MIET).

Ir Bruce Chan has more than 23 years professional experience in Telecom and Power industry. He is currently the Deputy Director in CLP and overlooking the Business Office in Power Station. Before the current role, he was the General Manager in CLP Engineering overlooking all the contracting business.

Ir Bruce Chan actively serves IET Hong Kong. He is the Chairman of the Electronics and Communications Section of IET Hong Kong in 2019 and 2020 session.



Candidate Biography:  
MR HUNG CHUN KIT, JACKY
BEng (Hons), MIET

Mr. Hung Chun Kit is a system control engineer with more than 20-year working experience in various departments in the Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd.
He was graduated from The University of Hong Kong and joined the Hongkong Electric Co. Ltd after graduation.
He joined Power and Energy Section (PES) of IET Hong Kong more than 10 years and served as the Chairman for PES in year 2017-2018 and now currently the Past Chairman for PES.
He also joined APSCOM as OC since 2009 (i.e. for APSCOM 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018). Moreover, he served as the representative of PES and joined the BC meeting for year 2015-2017 and also acted as OC for the event Presidential Address for several years.

MR CHOW PERRY HOI CHU
Chairman of IET Railway and Transport Section (2020 Session)
B.Eng., M.Sc., CEng., MIET
Post: Overhead Line Design Engineer.
Department of E & M Engineering, MTR Corporation Limited.

Mr. Perry Chow obtained a master's degree in electrical engineering in railway
specialism engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He awarded the
CEng (IET) qualification certificate from the Engineering Council of the United
Kingdom, and he also served as the Chairman of the Railway and Transportation
Section of The Institution of Engineering and Technology at the 2020 session. He has
served in Railway Transportation Section of IET for more than 12 years and successfully
held the International Conference on Railway Engineering 2020 (ICRE2020). He has
been appointed as a Mentor for students of the Department of Electrical Engineering of
the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and is also a committee member of the PolyU's
EEAA committee. He was awarded the Vice-President of the Electrical & Mechanical
Service Department Apprentice Association (EMSDAA). He has obtained the Grade C
& H in Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker from Hong Kong Government.
He also participated in Hong Kong Government’s E&M Trade Promotion Group as a
committee member. Mr. Perry Chow is a professional railway system engineer with
more than 30 years of experience in projects and maintenance training in Hong Kong
and overseas. He was responsible for the design and delivery of courses for the
overhead lines and high voltage section staffs and Technical Apprenticeship in MTR
Corporation, as well as technical internships for more than 12 years. The courses
include the high voltage power distribution system & power protection system, the
overhead line system & pump control circuit of the MTR Corporation and Auto
People Mover Power System of Hong Kong Airport. He is now engaged in the design
of the Overhead Line System of MTR Corporation Limited.




Railway and Transport Section Committee
Candidate Biography:  
MS SUN SAMANTHA
CEnv CEng C.Build E CMEngNZ CMILT SFIIRSM FIIM FSOE FIPlantE MIET MCABE MCIPHE
 
Samantha spend most of her professional life operation improvement for the organisations, including airports, transportation teams and green businesses.
Samantha has proven ability to work with leaders across multiple sectors to build and improve the organisations by process, sustainability, technology and management improvements.
Samantha has been a Member of the IET, and appreciate the Vision and Strategy of the IET provide an excellent platform to interact our profession and society forward, Members and Fellows are motivated to grow with IET. She is an IET volunteer and is motivated to promote greater inclusion into the development and delivery of the IETs work.
Samantha has been working for diversity of businesses as a Principal Consultant, Project and Operation Manager. She loves to develop possible and positive solutions and improvement to her professional practice.
She is passionate and willing to contribute and provide guidance to members and colleagues.  She is currently working for the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) Contractor.
As an active member of the IET, she’s happy to share industry issues and news to the IET’s various forums and committees.

MR KWAN KIN TING TOMMY

I have fourteen years of experience in both Hong Kong and United Kingdom’s railway industry, covers development of smart maintenance, railway system asset management &, rolling stock and train-borne signalling reliability engineering and O&M bidding. I shall bring resources and connections from my past experience in Younger Member Committee for the Railway Network in The IET London to the Railway and Transportation Section of The IET Hong Kong.  


Candidate Biography:  
MR HOY CHUN WAH VINCENT

Mr. Vincent Hoy is a Chartered Engineer in the transportation sector for 20 years for both projects execution and tender acquisition in Asia Pacific Area. He have received Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and Master degree in Construction Law and Disputation Resolution from Hong Kong Polytechnical University.

As the Head of Rail Electrification, CoC of Siemens Mobility in Hong Kong, he is working with his team to turn traditional Traction Power Supply Solution into a latest Next-Generation Power Supply Solutions together with digital twin application. By the practical experience throughout various railway E&M systems and supported by Siemens Mobility Mindsphere Application Centre, he became passionate on driving a digital cross-domain solution that helps to address the Customer’s pain point and enable the railway operator to increase the system reliability and availability to next level.



Candidate Biography:  
MR PETER S.F. SUEN

Peter is a 2010/11 graduate of BEng in Electrical and Communication Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. He is now a support engineer of automatic fare collection engineering in MTR Corporation Limited.

Peter has joined the IET Hong Kong since 2009 as an event coordinator of the Students Section (SS(HKG)) of the Younger Members Section. He served as an experienced volunteer, and actively assisted remarkable events organised by Younger Members Section (YMS) and the IET for more than 10 years, and he became the chairman of YMS in Session 2020.
He is ready to accept the challenge and looking forward to co-operating with committees in the coming session and offering support to members of the IET and railway and transport section.
