APSCOM 2015 with the theme of “Powering Our Society towards Sustainable Future- Challenges, Needs, Solutions and Opportunities of Modern Power System” was organized by Power & Energy Section (PES), and was successfully held from 8 to 12 November 2015 at Hyatt Regency Hotel, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. The objective of the conference was to provide a forum for engineers from the utilities, industries, academics, and interested parties to discuss and share their views on issues on state-of-the-art technology.   It was our great honour that Mr. K.S. Wong, JP, Secretary for the Environment delivered an opening address to kick off the International Conference.



The Conference was attended by over 180 delegates and guests.  Renowned experts including Prof. Saifur Rahman from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and University, Prof. David Hill from University of Hong Kong, Prof. L.L. Lai from State Grid and Prof. William Hung from Warwick University presented their keynote speeches in the Conference.  Eighty nine high standard technical papers were presented in various oral presentation sessions in the Conference.



The speakers included delegates from the industry, academics, and utility companies from various countries/cities, namely, Hong Kong, PRC, Denmark, India, Taiwan, Iran, Japan, Dubai, and USA. 



A Conference Banquet was held in Skyline Banquet Hall in Lei Yue Mun with over 80 participants. All of them enjoyed the seafood and the beautiful night seaview. Following the Conference, a technical visit to CLP Smart Grid Centre and Nuclear Resources Centre was held on 11 Nov 2015 p.m., and another technical visit to the 110kV substation in Macau was held on 12 Nov 2015 a.m. The technical visits were well received by the delegates.
