Page BreakWhat is Engineering Open House?

Engineering Open House is a unique experience where tech firms open their doors to children and their parents to see engineering in real life.

What it intends to do?

Create awareness about engineering. To familiarize young children and their parents with different branches of engineering. Over 200 types of engineering have evolved in recent decades.

Why it is required?

Engineering should not come as a surprise to the generation next. Engineering Open House would try to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical learnings for young children about the engineering.

Framework

IET volunteers would engage with local schools and tech firms to carry out an Engineering Open House session.

Step 1: CC Rep to approach the LN and YP chair and explain then the whole idea of Engineering Open House

Step 2: Identify 3-4 volunteers (ideal mix would be 1 member, 1 YP, 2 student members)

Step 3: Approach the local tech firm, senior member could help in establishing the connect

Step 4: Reach out to a nearby school and form a batch of 15-20 students to begin with

Step 5: Agree to a date and time with tech firm and school

Step 6: Check with the school/tech firm for logistics and snacks

Step 7: An employee of tech firm to provide a 45 min – 1-hour tour to young children and their parents

Step 8: Conclude the event with a photo session and video bites

Step 9: Spread the word
