The projects detailed in the posters section of the event ranged from ‘Device Detection Using Machine Learning Techniques’ to ‘Metal oxide characterisation for high temperature transistors’. In the presentations event the topics included ‘Development of a Signature Analyser Test System’ and an ‘An analysis of helicopter propulsion through Biomimicry’
All of the entries were of a very high standard and the judges eventually decided on the winners.
In the posters category Ben Stainthorpe of Newcastle University got first prize with his ‘Robot with a Guidance System’ project and Reece James Frankland of Newcastle University came second with his investigation into ‘Design analysis of a BLDC Motor and design of alternative machines’.
Among the presenters, Tousif Rahman of Newcastle University won first prize with his ‘Implementation of whole genome sequencing algorithms’ and Kitty Stacpoole of Durham came a close second with her presentation on ‘Optimal Scheduling of Household Appliances under Consideration of Domestic Carbon Emissions’.
All of the participants received commemorative certificates for inclusion in their CVs.
