The Electrical Power Research Group at Newcastle University has a requirement for real-time control in many of its research projects. These projects include many types of motor control applications and power conversion for energy systems. This talk described a general purpose DSP microcontroller based control system that has been developed for use by PhD students and Research Associates. After describing the hardware and software system, a number of application examples were given.
