Nuffield Research Placements provide over 1,000 students each year with the opportunity to work alongside professional scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians from a variety of universities, commercial companies, voluntary organisations and research institutions.  Year 12 students (studying in their first year of their first post-16 course) will spend 4 to 6 weeks over the summer holidays in a placement where they will complete a STEM research project that contributes to the work of their host.

The students will have gained good results at GCSE (at least 5 A* to B grades) and will be looking to study a STEM subject at university or have a STEM career.  They are enthusiastic and motivated, and historically have produced outstanding work for their project providers.  We prepare them for the programme through induction sessions, and whilst on placement we meet their travel costs; some student are also eligible for an extra bursary.

MEBP manage the placements in Kent and Medway, and we’re currently looking for project providers.  We are available for support throughout the process – we can help to draw up suitable projects, will handle the paperwork, and can select a suitable student (you may also have access to students’ applications so that you can have a say in which student comes to you).

I have attached our project providers guidance document which has more details, including a timeline of this year’s process.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on this email address or the numbers below.  We hope you are able to support the programme this summer, and look forward to hearing from you soon.
