4G To 5G - Mobile Communications Present And Future.

LTE and LTE-Advanced offer data rates and user experience that already often exceed those available via fixed connections. Does this mean that the “unceasing toil of research workers and engineers on the improvement of wireless telegraphy”, famously spoken of by Marconi, can finally cease, ushering in an era of contented retirement for us all, relaxing in the knowledge of mission accomplished? Or is there more to be done? What more do we need from mobile communications? Will there ever be 5G, and if so, what will it be?

At the event " From 4G to 5G - Mobile Communications Present and Future" on the 20th January, Professor Matthew Baker gave us a glimpse of the future for Mobile Communications.

If you were not able to attend the event in person, you can now watch the lecture on IET.TV:

John Turton, Special Events Champion and volunteer from the IET Swindon Network, also interviewed Professor Baker after the lecture where he shared why he became a Telecommunications Engineer as well as his thoughts on the evolution of mobile communications.
