The IET is keen to reward success on courses that lead tfc14b05e3ba27b6af050142cd71e4c05-huge-highbury-college-award-2016.jpghe way  to the student becoming a Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineer, or Engineering Technician. Grant Howlett, who is employed by SSE and studies at Highbury College, was recommended by his course supervisor to receive an IET award for his excellent performance during the 2015/16 academic year. Grant received a certificate to acknowledge his success, a cheque for £100 and his name engraved on the perpetual shield trophy that remains on display at the college. The award was presented by Simon Blumlein, the Chairman of the Solent Retired Members Section at Highbury College on Thursday 16th June 2016 in the presence of engineering students and Engineering Department lecturers. Simon Blumlein (on Grant's right) congratulated Grant on his success and outlined the advantages of joining the IET that represents the profession.
