Meet Virginia Hodge

Past IET trustee Virginia Hodge highlights how volunteering for the IET has shaped her own career, having given her the chance to network, hone new skills and gain experience in different roles.

Image of Virginia Hodge.“I wanted to understand a bit more about engineering and to develop myself. I felt I could learn a lot from volunteering as well as bringing my own experiences to the table. Volunteering will often give you a lot of soft skills that can be quite difficult to pick up. The leadership and managerial skills I learnt when I was in the YMS has helped in my career. Also, through volunteering for the IET, I have met people all over the world and learnt about different cultures from them, which benefits my current job as I'm working in an international team.”
