Eng Hwa is Chairman of the Young Professional Section (YPS) and Data Protection of the Singapore Network. He has been actively volunteering with the Singapore Network since 2013 starting as Committee Member and has successfully run the inaugural Faraday Challenge on 15 Dec 2015.  The event was a huge success and a second run in collaboration with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore was successfully delivered on 21 May 2016. He was also the organising chair for the network’s 40th Anniversary Dinner on the 2 Dec 2016.


 

“To inspire, inform and influence the engineering community” is the mission of the IET and Eng Hwa truly epitomises this by stepping up to lead amazing teams of volunteers to make engineering fun again by thinking out of the box and experimenting with various modes of running events to see which gathered the best feedback from members. He also attended the Community Volunteers Conference on 17 & 18 Jun 2016 where he shared the best practices of the Singapore Network and learnt the best practices of the other networks.


 

Eng Hwa received his Executive Masters in Business Administration from Tsinghua University and INSEAD and his BEng(First Class Honors) in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technology University. He is also a certified Project Management Professional. Eng Hwa started his career in the Military where he was a Company Commander before embarking on his entrepreneurial journey as a Co-Founder of an Internet of Things (IoT) startup. Eng Hwa is currently a Manager in ST Kinetics.

Edward Ho Teck Hwa, BEng MIET

Edward Ho Teck Hwa studied Mechatronics Engineering at Liverpool John Moores in 2010. He joined Community Sociology Society and was an advisor during his undergraduate years. Currently, he is a design engineer and specialises in sandblasting and shot peening services at Abrasive Engineering Pte Ltd.

He is passionate about volunteering in IET and serves as the Vice Chair in Young Professionals Singapore Network (2017/18).

His hobbies include reading books and listening to music. He also enjoys travelling around the world.

Harry Tan, BEng MIET



 


 

Harry Tan graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) in 2015.



 



He joined Surbana Jurong Consultants Private Limited as a Mechanical Engineer in July 2015 and has been involved in residential, commercial and industrial building projects.


 

He participated in designing and building a commercial building project that consists of a private condominium above a 3 storeys of commercial space including shopping mall, food court, restaurants and car park. He was involved in designing sanitary and plumbing system for this project. For industrial projects, he is currently involved in JTC’s poultry processing hub project. His responsibilities in this project are to oversee the construction of mechanical services such as plumbing, sanitary, gas and fire protection. He reviewed Contractor’s material submissions, drawings and calculations, and liaised with Authorities, client and contractors to resolve various issues such as service coordination and compliances with local codes. He has passed the Fundamental Engineering Examination conducted by the Professional Engineers Board Singapore in 2015. Also, he attended and passed the BIM Management course conducted by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Academy in 2016.

Lee Chong Wei, BEng MIET

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechatronics Engineering with Merit from University Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia. After graduating in 2015, he worked at Abrasive Engineering PTE LTD(AE), Singapore as Product Development Engineer. His job scope is to help AE to build, integrate and test embedded systems, to eventually make them commercial products. He is involved in circuit board design, microchip programming and quality assurance of the products.


 

He joined the IET YP Singapore as a committee member in 2015. He was elected to be the Marketing Director under YP Section during 2016/17

Kai Xian has been an active IET volunteer since his undergraduate years in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He served in a few key positions which include Assistant Financial Controller, Special Project Organising Chair and President of NTU On Campus.


 

His passion did not end with his term in NTU On Campus when he embarked on a journey in IET YP Singapore upon graduation. Besides taking charge of PATW Singapore Round 2016 and A.F. Harvey Prize Lecture 2017, Kai Xian also served as YP Vice Chair  in 2016-17. He is currently the co-opt member for Volunteer Engagement Board and Volunteer Engagement Advisor in IET YP Singapore.


 

Kai Xian is a Ph.D. candidate in NTU under the prestigious Nanyang President Graduate Scholarship Programme . He is actively mentoring undergraduate students for their Final Year Projects and Research Attachment. Their works have been published in international conferences and journals. He also won the Best Presenter Award at an international conference.

Alan Zhong Li, BEng PhD MIET

Alan obtained his PhD degree in biomaterials technology from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering & Automation from South China University of Technology, China. His PhD study is focused on biomedical ceramics for bone repair and regeneration. He is currently the materials engineer in a Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) – NTU joint R&D project on the fabrication of artificial corneal skirts.


 

Alan is passionate about conducting bench-to-bedside research and making his research known to others through effective communication. He won the Present Around The World (PATW) Singapore final 2017, and was the Audience Favorite in the PATW Asia Pacific Final held in Auckland in the same year.

Man Kit received his B.Eng (Hons) in Engineering (Aerospace) in 2011 from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Currently he is a yield defect density engineer in GLOBALFOUNDRIES Pte. Ltd. The company manufactures high value added wafer with advanced technology. As a yield defect density engineer, he specialises in yield defect improvement projects dealing with customers and monitoring the health of the process line. He is also using the engineering problem solving skills to troubleshoot the inline defect source.



 



He joined IET as member in 2016. Currently he is the Marketing Director of YP Singapore.

Chong Yi Sheng

Yi Sheng is a final year student from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering and specializing in Mechatronics. He first joined the IET through NTU On Campus in 2016. He has been actively involved and served in several positions including Event Director and Chairperson of Special Project.



 



With his passion, he now expands his journey in IET by joining the Young Professionals. Besides taking up the Publicity Officer position of the AF Harvey Prize Lecture held in Singapore in Aug 2017, he currently serves as an On Campus Advisor. He wishes to share his experience to guide and facilitate the development of the On Campuses in Singapore.

Seng Chee graduated as a Mechatronics Engineer from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman(UTAR) in 2016 and represented UTAR in Malaysia Design Competition in the same year. He is also a black belt holder of GTF Taekwondo and has been actively involved in participating and organizing Taekwondo Competitions.



 



Currently, he is a project engineer in UTOC Engineering Ptd. Ltd. which focuses on testing and commissioning plants. He joined IET as a member and became a committee member of IET young professional (YP) in 2017.

David Tan received his B.Eng(Hons) in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in 2017 from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman College. He is a Project Engineer at UTOC Engineering Pte. Ltd. UTOC Engineering Pte Ltd has been actively participating in cost-saving projects for the petrochemical, chemical, power generation and pharmaceutical industries in Singapore as well as the Southeast Asian Region. As a project engineer, he focuses on piping design and management of plant costs.


 

He joined IET as a member in 2017 to meet more engineers and get involved in more engineering activities.

Hong York Han obtained his B.Eng (Hons) in Material and Manufacturing Engineering in 2016. He is a project engineer at Willowglen Service Pte Ltd. The company was established with a primary purpose to provide supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) products & integrated SCADA, Security & IT solutions to customers.


 

He joined IET Singapore network in 2016. As a engineer, he aims to work together with people with other expertise to build a better society.

Chin Wen graduated from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Malaysia in October 2016 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering. She currently serves as a Product Engineer in Ardentec Singapore Pte Ltd which provides semiconductor testing solutions including logic, memory, and mixed-signal ICs. Her job scope focuses on wafer testing processes and internal User Interface (UI) system support.


 

She joined IET Young Professional (YP) Singapore and became a committee member in 2017. She has been actively volunteering in activities organised by IET and currently works in the Event Team Committee.

Renyou is currently a final year student researcher at National University of Singapore (NUS). He specialises in electric machine design, and currently works with Rolls-Royce in optimising the high temperature materials for jet engines.


 

Renyou joined IET Singapore in May 2015 when he graduated from Singapore Polytechnic. His outstanding leadership skills have added value to the IET, which can be seen from his contribution in organising many successful events, including the IET Present Around the World (PATW) in Singapore, the IET AF Harvey Prize Lecture with British High Commission Singapore.


 

Renyou also has proven track records in strong written and verbal communication. He encourages networking in the IET, both externally and internally. He also strives to add more vibrancy to the professional organisation. For instances, he regularly hosts the IET Pub Quiz as the Quiz Master.

Shinn moved to Singapore from Langkawi, Malaysia in 2016. He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering and proceeded to work in a fast-upscale environment. He started off by joining a semiconductor company, and gained substantial experience during this period.


 

With encouragement from his friends and family, Shinn stepped out of his comfort zone and  joined UTOC(Singapore) Pte Ltd as a project engineer. Currently, he is handling projects in Shell Eastern Pte Ltd, Bukom Island. With an amazing group of colleagues, Shinn enjoys his staying within the project period to thrive on project management. He joined IET Young Professional (YP) as a committee member in 2017 to get himself a better exposure to other engineering sectors.

Rish Simenthy received his Bachelor’s degree in Avionics Engineering from The Aeronautical Society of India and Masters degree in Telecommunication Networks from SRM University, India. He has been working for 8 years in the Network Engineering field and is currently working as a Network Engineer at Witflux Engineering Pte Ltd. The company mainly specialises in providing ICT services. He is really passionate about IOT and data science. He is also a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Design Associate (CCDA).


 

He joined IET in 2014 and has been volunteering  for the IET Singapore network since 2016 as a committee member. He is also a member of prestigious professional bodies like The Aeronautical Society of India and the Institution of Engineers (India).

Xiong Wei received his Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering in 2016 from University of Malaya. He started his career as a production engineer in SME which specializes in manufacturing wire harness and box building in Singapore. To pursue his dream, he currently works as a M&E engineer in a consultant firm in the construction field. Yan QuCheng received his bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University in 2017. He is currently working as an automation engineer in Winsys Technology.


 

He actively volunteered in IET NTU On Campus during his undergraduate study. He was the vice chairman of GreenTech Exhibition in 2014, and the Special Project Director of IET NTU On Campus in 2016. He has been motivated to continue his contribution to IET YP since 2016.


 

Now he is leading the event team of IET YP committee 17/18.

Nilar Shyun Mya, DipICT DipEng BA



PSB Academy On-Campus President, IET YP Singapore 2017/18


 

Nilar is currently working as a Operations Specialist with SingTel for a Ministry of Education project in Singapore. She has successfully led PSB Academy On Campus (Singapore) in winning the first ever IET On Campus Group of the Year Award. She is the Chair of the Organization Committee for Myanmar PATW National competition for 2018. She has volunteered for IET Faraday Challenge Singapore 2017 and AF Harvey Prize Lecture 2017.



 



She is always enthusiastic about volunteering. She has volunteered at the Information Center for Every Youth Community Library (Myanmar) as a librarian, senior librarian and won the "Volunteer-maniac" award for her strong commitment, great dedication and unique personality. In 2008, she was elected as the Deputy Library Manager and Program Manager. She is serving her third year in the Board of Advisors (International Network) and also Country Focal Officer (Singapore) with Youth Social Force (Myanmar).



 



She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts with English, and also obtained Diploma in ICT and Electronic from University of Yangon, Myanmar. She also holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering. She is currently enrolled in Conventry University to pursue her B.Eng (Hons) of Electrical and Electronics Engineering part-time program at PSB Academy.



 



Nilar moved to Singapore 10 years ago with her family. She is passionate about photography and violin. She loves art and painting. She plays badminton and enjoys cycling during her free time.

Shi Chenyu (Cheryl)



Nanyang Technological University On-Campus President 2017/18


 

Cheryl is studying Information Engineering & Media at Nanyang Technological University with a full scholarship granted by both Ministry of Education of Singapore and NTU. She is currently working as an IT consulting intern at ExxonMobil Asia Pacific.


 

Cheryl has strong passion of engineering and technology field, she was invited to work as a student researcher of NTU Undergraduate Research Experience on Campus Program because of her excellent academic performances, and researched on the radar sensor technology of determining the spin angle of balls based on the request from International Table Tennis Federation. Besides her academic performances, Cheryl also continuously  contributes to IET NTU ON CAMPUS in the past two years as a leader. During her tenure in this organization, she has led the NTU committee successfully held 25 events which engaged 600 NTU students to participate in and received overwhelming response and positive feedback. Moreover, she has engaged IET membership size to expand fourfold.


 

During Cheryl’s spare time, she loves travelling and photography, she has travelled to around 20 countries in the past three years. She is also a professional Guzheng (Chinese instrument) player.
