Jolyon Caplin is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Singapore Polytechnic, serving since 1988. Jolyon is returning as Chair of the Institution of Engineering Technology (Singapore Network) having also served as Chair for the 2012/13 session and in several other Committee positions since 2001.  He joined the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) in 1978 as Student Member and has been Member since 1982.  He has started and supported many initiatives in IET(SN) including the Faraday Lecture Asian Tours from 2005 to 2008 with an adjunct engineering exhibition in Singapore.  His main drive is to develop youth interest and commitment to engineering.

Dr Bicky Bhangu is Regional Director for South East Asia & Pacific at Rolls-Royce. He has been with Rolls-Royce since 2007 initially based in UK and subsequently moved to Singapore in 2009. Bicky is the Immediate Past Chair of the Institution of Engineering Technology (IET), Engineering Fellow of the IET and a Chartered Engineer. He is the Chairman for IET Singapore Network. Bicky served as the Chairman for Aerospace Industry Skills and Training Council (ISTC) supporting Workforce Development Agency (WDA) to oversee the skills development for the Singapore aerospace industry (2013 – 2015). He is serving the Singapore Maritime Port Authority (MPA) as select committee member for R&D investment in green port technologies.


 

Bicky has a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Nottingham, an MSc in Control Systems, PhD in Advanced Machines and Drives from the University of Sheffield and an MBA in Technology Management. Bicky is an Adjunct Professor at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Dr Duncan Campbell is Technical Director at Tigerspike in Singapore.  With two decades of professional software engineering experience in a variety of domains leading software development in the UK and Singapore and driving process transformation, he has experienced many things that should not be done in software development so is very familiar with the consequences of not doing things right.


 

Having foolishly volunteered to act as an honorary auditor at one AGM he has been drawn further into IET Singapore Network activities, most recently organising the Faraday Challenge.



 Duncan holds a first class honours degree in computer science and a master’s degree in system design from the University of Manchester, a doctorate in computer science from the University of Exeter, and a postgraduate diploma in the management of software projects from the Open University.

Mr Lim Meng Yong is currently serving Cargotec as Senior Sales Manager with Business Line function of the crane segment for the region of APAC. Meng Yong began his career since 1996 as a project management profession for various heavy industries (construction (M&E), automation, port equipment and waste to energy plant). In 2010, Meng Yong had moved from the project execution function to the business aspect of the industry.   Meng Yong has been active within in the IET Singapore network since 2005.



Meng Yong has a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic, BEng in Mechatronics from University of Wolverhampton (UK), MSc in Mechatronics from National University of Singapore and an EMBA from Temple University (US, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). Meng Yong had also obtained his Graduate Certificate of International Arbitration from National University of Singapore and a fellow in Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb).

Eng Hwa is Chairman of the Young Professional Section (YPS) and Data Protection of the Singapore Network. He has been actively volunteering with the Singapore Network since 2013 starting as Committee Member and has successfully ran the inaugural Faraday Challenge on 15 Dec 15.  The event was a huge success and a second run in collaboration with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore was successfully delivered on 21 May 16. He was also the organising chair for the network’s 40th Anniversary Dinner on the 2 Dec 16.


 

“To inspire, inform and influence the engineering community” is the mission of the IET and Eng Hwa truly epitomises this by stepping up to lead amazing teams of volunteers to make engineering fun again by thinking out of the box and experimenting with various mode of running events to see which gathered the best feedback from members. He also attended the Community Volunteers Conference on 17 & 18 Jun 16 where he shared the best practices of the Singapore Network and learnt the best practices of the other networks.


 

Eng Hwa received his Executive Masters in Business Administration from Tsinghua University and INSEAD and his BEng(First Class Honors) in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technology University. He is also a certified Project Management Professional. Eng Hwa started his career in the Military where he was a Company Commander before embarking on his entrepreneurial journey as a Co-Founder of an Internet of Things (IoT) startup. Eng Hwa is currently a Manager in ST Kinetics.

Dr. Andrew Ng is an Associate Professor with Singapore Institute of Technology. He is the Deputy Programme Director of the BEng (Honours) and MEngTech in Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Land), which focuses on railway engineering and total preventive maintenance. He is a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council and serves on the committees of various local and international professional engineering institutions, such as IEEE, IET, IES, and IRSE. Dr Ng is also a Principal Investigator of several grants amounting to more than half a million. He holds one international patent and has more than 20 publications as both first and corresponding author. His research and development innovations have also bagged him several prestigious awards, such as Young Investigator Award and National Instrument Editor’s Choice Engineering Impact Award. Furthermore, Dr Ng has been frequently quoted and interviewed by news media on railway transportation issues and current affairs.

Robert Cooke is Deputy Chief Specialist (Signalling) at the Land Transport Authority. He has been serving as a committee member since 2016. He joined the institution in the mid 80s whilst studying Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Huddersfield. He has a particular interest in rail transport specialising in communication based train control and interlocking systems for high performance metro systems, He has worked for London Underground, Westinghouse Rail Systems (now Siemens) prior to joining the LTA in 2012 in a career of  27 years.  A key part of his role is the development of young signal engineers and working with Institutes of Higher Learning on projects to encourage young graduates to explore careers in the field of modern metro systems.

Morgan Bonici is Programme Manager at Qioptiq Singapore (Excelitas). He has been working for eight years in the optical engineering field first as mechanical design engineer and then moving to Singapore in 2014 as a quality engineer. He has now joined the business team handling and troubleshooting programs for major customers.


 

Morgan has been an active volunteer in the IET Singapore Network since 2016 helping out with the PATW and the On-Campus groups in Singapore. He is also an IET Lifeskills Trainer and was assistant editor the the IET Singapore Network 40th Anniversary magazine.



 



Morgan holds an MSc(Eng) in Materials Engineering and a BEng in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Liverpool.

Mike Henry is a Project Engineering Manager for Wood in Singapore, concentrating in the oil and gas engineering sector.  He has lived and worked in Singapore since 2009, but spent 2 years overseas working on assignment in Vietnam and has recently returned to Singapore.  Prior to 2009, Mike worked in the UK for Wood (legacy Foster Wheeler) in Reading, but spent various periods of time overseas on assignments in various loca



tions.


 

He joined the IET as a student in 1997, while studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.  He holds a BEng (Hons.) degree, is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) through the IET and a Chartered Manager (CMgr) with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).


 

Mike is an active IET member and has previously held the positions of Honorary Secretary and Young Professionals Section (YPS) Chairman for the IET Singapore Network.  He has also volunteered to become an IET Singapore Committee member during the 2017-2019 terms.  He will be focused on Market Outreach in Singapore, with the intention to further raise the profile of the IET in Singapore, while also acting as YPS Council.

Tan Teck Lee is a Professional Engineer registered in Singapore. He has conducted training and consultancy in China, India, South Africa and the Middle East. He is currently a Deputy Director in SP Group.


 

Teck Lee graduated with a First Class Honors Degree in Electronics & Electrical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, and was awarded the prestigious Medal and Prize as the institution’s most distinguished engineering graduate. He was awarded the Outstanding Engineer Award from IEEE Power and Energy Society in 2000 and 2009.



 



Teck Lee believes that there are exciting opportunities in turning the country’s vision of smart nation into reality and will direct his attention to the development of next generations of young engineers.

Huang Lingxi joined the IET as Student Member in the UK, and upon her return she continued her membership journey with the Singapore Network. She is focused on outreach to female engineers and students to promote engineering in education and as a career. She is actively involved with events such as Faraday’s Challenge, Lifeskills Workshop amongst many others.


 

She is currently working as a Project Engineer in the power industry, and enjoys the sense of achievement of providing vital electricity connections to households and companies alike.

Tjai is with over 30 years of professional experiences in quality, environmental, safety, productivity, engineering, consulting, training, assessment and organisational development for both the private and public sectors. Mr Cavin Wang is currently serving the Infocomm Media Development Authority with function in coordination of spectrum resource with neighbouring countries, local infocomm ecosystem development, technology roadmaps and aligning plans and standards with ITU and APT.  Cavin began his career since 1996 as mobile network consultancy for various mobile operators and vendors around the world with technologies in 1G, 2G, 3G and 4G and bridging the digital divide for fixed-mobile convergence, roaming aspects, connectivity and security.  In 2016, Cavin had moved from consultancy function to a more regulative aspect in aligning the national move to 5G and beyond, in paving goals towards the smart nation initiative.   Cavin Wang has been active within the IET Singapore network since 2014.

Amit Gupta holds a Bachelor degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Roorkee and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from National University of Singapore (NUS). During 2000-12, he worked for Bechtel Corporation, Samsung Heavy Industries, Delphi Automotive Systems and Vestas Wind Systems. Since August 2012, he has been Chief of Rolls-Royce Electrical (RRE) at Rolls-Royce Singapore Pte Ltd.  He is Director of the Electrical Programme at Rolls-Royce@NTU Corporate lab. 

To date he has been granted 23 patents and filed another 24 patents.  He has also published more than 100 papers in international conferences and journals.  He is an Adjunct Professor with ECE, NUS and EEE, NTU.  He holds a six sigma Green Belt Certificate from Delphi Automotive Systems and trained in six sigma Black Belt techniques through Vestas Wind Systems.

He received 2016 IEEE R10 Industry-Academia collaboration award for developing world class electrical R&T lab EPSIL@N.
