Despite many initial hurdles, the IET LP’s first annual Quiz Night was a great success! Held on the 8th of September, the night brought together a group of over 70 engineering students and professionals for a night of laughter and socialising. Livened up by the cheap drinks from the bar and exorbitant amounts of pizza and snacks, attendees enjoyed the nostalgia of going ‘Back to School’ with Andy’s old school themed quiz night, despite some seemingly ancient music choices!

The Quiz Night LP team were taken on a bumpy learning journey, with planning started in April. Finding a venue became an unexpected challenge, with the best options requiring hefty bond payments or hiring fees. After a change from the original scope of the project, we were able to find a brilliant licensed venue, with lovely staff, fantastic accessibility, and a great bar! Marketing was also an unexpected challenge, with so many events happening at each of the university campuses at this time of year. Partnering with Robogals UWA provided an excellent remedy for this issue, helping to make up numbers, increase the food budget and create a generally buzzing atmosphere! The quiz night would not have been what it was without them.



 

Despite it being stressful at some points, we believe that we all learned valuable lessons and techniques that we can apply to our future careers and teamwork experiences. We hope we set the bar for the many more quiz nights to come, and for future organisers we challenge you to go above and beyond on what we have accomplished. There is plenty of room for improvement! For us, this journey had been a long and windy one
