Need to upgrade to a better file for conduit work/fabricating cable tray bends to show apprentices how to do it, what do you guys recommend as a good type of file to get

    You can machine or hand form depleted uranium with conventional tools but with limited success unless you use a stack of coolant - it will produce a shower of sparks as you attempt to file it


    Usually the tools are etched with a titanium coating which helps, and, if machining, you probably need to use swarf picking equipment depending on how good you need the component - ie are you just going to fire it at high velocity to knock out armour or is the component for something a little more specialist and usually pretty accurate.


    You probably want to be doing any cutting inside an inerted  glove box or similar so you don't breath the dust which won't do you much good


    There was a rumour a few years back of a chap who was making DU rounds as part of his day job, who started making slimline darts with good weight for himself and his local darts team as a lunchtime foreigner - no indication if he's still with us
