Caravan electrical hook up?

I've been asked to install a supply to a hook up for a caravan in a garden.

I see that the connection of a PME earthing facility to any metal work is prohibited, is there anything else I may have overlooked?

Thanks in advance :)
  • Breaking N and CPC, as well as L, is as good as breaking the PEN.

If however we have to  assume that the dangerous voltage difference is due to the supply side PME wiring underground  then no amount of disconnection at the house cut out or further along removes the voltages in the ground.

  • Thanks for the input guys.

My initial thought was to provide a suitable weatherproof socket outlet for the user to do with as they please.

However as I like to do things right I was under the impression I could supply a suitable up to date hook up unit.  This would be appropriately fed from the house CU and if needs be the earth can be separated and a rod can be used to TT from the hook up with the SWA from the supply being connected to the MET for damage protection for the cable.

Any earth rod would be adjacent to the hook up unit??

I have seen, on some caravan sites, a hook up box mounted on a metal post, such as slotted channel, where the post was used as the earth electrode.

    Z.

  • Just came across this which is pretty much what I was thinking but with only 1 hook up outlet, see attached:
