Question
Hi everyone..
Generally, allowable net deflection of glass perpendicular to the glass surface shall be the lesser of 1/60 of the shorter pane dimension or 50mm (2 sides supported glass).
Any thoughts on this?

This situation reminds me of being bored in class at school and we would bend a plastic rule to see how much it would bend before it shattered. Then someone invented shatterproof plastic rules.

BS6262 when considering wind loads, assumes a safe deflection not exceeding span /125 for single glazing or span/175 for double (or more) glazed units, and recommends glass thickness/panel sizes based on that.
