Wall plate connectors for other antennas

The connectors for TV, FM and DAB aerials, and satellite LNB are standardised for wall plates used in building, and these wall plates are mass produced and widely available.

Are there any standards for wall plate connectors used for other radio applications such as shortwave or VHF and UHF antennas? I have always recommended using BNC connector for other radio applications unless another specific connector is called for as they are effective and reliable at RF and to prevent inadvertent connection with other TV, FM / DAB, and satellite connectors. Am I right or not? Wall plates with BNC connectors are commercially available but are a bit tricky to find in shops.

Most blanking plates made to cover a single or double socket box have spot centers on the non show side that allow drilling through for a bulkhead BNC/ N Type/ 7-16 DIN or whatever. Depends on the application.

you can use the euro modules, they are available with BNC and Im sure i have seen N connectors. They always look quite smart, and are what I have used in my hoise

I wanted to link our garage with our study/home office with BNC, USB, 2 x RS232 and 2 x 3.5mm jack. I bought the Europlates for RS232 and USB, but some careful drilling and reaming produced the plate on the left - just above the soldering iron stand. http://www.ancient-mariner.co.uk/public/Clear%20Bench%201.JPG (This is from Lisa's Workshop project:
