So, how long would we have to escape in a room fire? 15 minutes? 10 Minutes? 5 Minutes?

  • They did say no accelarent had been used.


    I do wonder if the Aussies don't have the same requirements for fire retardants in their furniture foam that we now do. The way the fire spread did seem reminiscent of the public information films of the early 1980s.

    I think both Australia and New Zealand have reasonably stringent furniture fire safety standards - certainly from the early nineties onwards


    That said, there is a hell of a fire load in some domestic properties  - it doesn't take long for the hot gas layer to ignite everything in the room
