Question
Hi guys.  I need to install some downlights but don't have enough space in the void above.  The lights that were there before had a white spacer slightly larger than the lights that lowered them by about an inch from the ceiling so creating a bit more headroom.   Does anyone know what they are called or where i could source them please. going round in circles on google. They are eyeballs so needs a 90mm hole in it.    Cheers.   Gary

Thanks.  i didn't think to measure the full width of the plastic cover through the top, that might work as a last resort.  The existing lights were the old style tilt eyeballs where a large part of the lamp is in the tilt section that is below the ceiling level.  I am trying to get the same sort of thing back in so that it is just a lamp change rather than me getting called back out for a complete fitting replacement.

Do you already have the downlights  ?  Surface mounting downlight exist, but not many swivel ones. (example) another  (example)
Many makes of a adaptor plates for covering large holes with a smaller lights but they are normally flat but this is not what you want , like this  I think,.

Is there scope for getting a tame chippy or someone with a woodworking lathe to turn something  if it is only a few.?

You probably want something that you can change the lamps, but that will be limited with that depth. If you can tolerate a surface intergral LED,  one that is 40mm deep 120mm diameter, it will cover the holes and may work.

like these?

not sure, probably3 to 4 inches.  It's in the ridge of a conservatory. It just fouls the flex of the gu10 lamp holder.  They had 12v halogens in there before and the lamps are shorter.

As a matter of interest, how deep is the void?
