Downlighter trims?

Does anyone know of a 'trim ring' which can be slide over a downlighter can to enable it to be fitted into a hole which is too large for the fitting? I have some very worn and raggy holes in a ceiling and could do with just fitting some kind of trim ring or 'repair washer' over the top of a fire-rated can in order to stop it boinging right up into the ceiling void.

It does need to be fire-rated.
  • Do you mean something more complex than a metal downlight bezel ? The hard part will be getting the right hole size.

  • Not aware of anything commercial but you could get some laser cut from anodised aluminium.  There are plenty of people with laser cutters around and you're just talking circles so easy to programme.

  • I have used converter plates in the past from TLC but they tend to be specific to a particular downlight, I saw one in my pile of rubbish, also know as  spares, recently . Also these guys do repair collars https://c-fix-downlighter.com I have never used them but have been tempted and don't know about fire rating. I have seen others but can't remember names.
  • Have a look at Eterna Downlight Converter CR80WH.

Used them occasionally to get out of a "hole"!

Mainly though I cut out a square of ceiling and put in new plasterboard and make good with Easyfill.
  • Collingwood and Bell supply hole convertors for their fittings.
