2020-11-28: Webinar – Digitalization and Quality Management
The seminar was co-organized by MIES of IET Hong Kong, the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and MILES Alumni Association Limited of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Society for Quality, The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and IVE (Engineering). Total of 63 participants (including the host and 2 speakers).
Digitalization is the process of moving to a digital business. Increased digitalization has affected business activities including companies’ business models by enabling various new forms of collaboration between companies, leading to new product and service offerings, as well as new forms of company relationships with customers, employees and other stakeholders. At the same time, digitalization has put pressure on companies to reflect on their current strategy and explore new business opportunities systematically and at early stages.
Quality management is the act of overseeing all activities and tasks needed to ensure that an organization, product or service is consistently delivering value to customers. It consists of establishing and implementing the processes of quality planning, quality control and assurance, as well as quality improvement. Quality management helps companies to achieve sustainable performance excellence. Digitalization brings new challenges and opportunities to quality management. This seminar has invited experts to share their professional knowledge in digitalization and quality management with applications.
To share the professional knowledge and inspire transformation in industries, this seminar has invited experts to share latest digitalization technologies such as IoT, cloud computing, data analytics and visualization for quality management in manufacturing and various industries.
Topics and Speakers:
- Dr Albert Tsang has been very active in professional and scholarly activities both in Hong Kong and internationally. He was a long-serving member of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Before his retirement, he was Principal Lecturer of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University. Dr Tsang described the big data analytics process and digital twin for achieving digitalization initiatives such as new business model formulation, problem detection and solving,
