Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Section is one of the key sections established by IET Hong Kong. Manufacturing Engineering mainly focuses on the internal dynamics of industrial processes such as: Machine Tools, Materials Science, Industrial engineering is concerned with the design, improvement and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment and energy. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skill in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design, to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems.

2019-5-18: Technical Seminar on Jewelry Manufacturing and Technology Forum 2019 - @ The Open University of Hong Kong
The seminar was held in the Jockey Club Campus, the Open University of Hong Kong on 18 May 2019. The seminar was jointly organized by IET Hong Kong - Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Section, HKIE - Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Division, the Open University of Hong Kong - School of Science and Technology and Asia Pacific Gemmologist Society. Over 120 members (including 14 IET members), students and academics joined the seminar. Four speakers were invited to deliver the technical talk. In the first section, Mr. Mak and Ms.Sin introduced the trend of jewelry design and application of additive manufacturing (AM) technology to make the jewelry. In the second section, Mr. Leung introduced the market trend and status of diamond trade. In third section, Dr. Mok introduced the characteristics and testing technique of Gemstone. In the final section, Ms FannyTang (Senior Lecturer of OUHK) hosted the panel discussion. The participants asked
many questions, including the pros and cons of additive manufacturing. The seminar was ended at 12:30 pm.


2019-4-13: Manufacturing Forum 2019 - HK Manufacturing Industries in Greater Bay Area @ The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Manufacturing Forum is an annually event to introduce and report the update information of related industries. In this year, we will focus on discussing the development and opportunities of HK Manufacturing Industries against to the Framework Agreement on Deepening (FAD)of GD-HK-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA). 
Guest Speakers:
1. Ir. Dr. Lo Wai Kwok - Member of Legislatives Council of HKSAR
2. Mr. Daniel Chun - Chairman of Research & Blueprint Committee of SCC
3. Mr. Alan Suen - Chairman of Hong Kong Metal Manufacturer Association
4. Mr. Lee Yuan Fat - Chairman of Hong Kong Federation of Inno-Tech and MI Ltd. 

This event went successfully and over 100 participants attended this event. Guests presented:
1.How HK government supported Manufacturing industries to develop their business in Great Bay Area and also the challenges by Dr. Lo. 
2. What are the opportunities for manufacturing industry could have in Great Bay Area? Presented by Mr. Chun. 
3. Experienced sharing of doing business in China and Great Bay Area. China government policy, Supports and Challenges the  manufacturing industry is facing. Presented by Mr. Suen. 
4. Experienced sharing on applying Industry 4.0 in their own business. One of the successful story sharing by Mr. Lee.
