Highlights

In the Solent area there is one of the largest concentrations of engineers in the UK.  No less than three universities offer courses leading to degrees which are accredited for Chartered Engineer status and there are also many colleges offering courses for all levels of technical qualifications.  Our industries are modern and there is a thriving engineering community.

The Solent Network of the IET is active in a number of areas.  We support:

  • work in schools through STEM Ambassadors,
  • students in universities and colleges through a programme of talks, technical visits and workshops and
  • young engineers in the early career years through lectures, lifeskills courses and all-important networking with other engineers.

There is provision for participation by engineers at all stages of their career and finally a lively section for retired members.  This is truly a 'professional home for life'!
