Graphene - Unexpected Science in a Pencil Line006f067ce282586892ec8346a1287484-huge-gr
In this lecture, Dr. Aravind Vijayaraghavan will introduce Graphene, the world's first 2-dimensional material and the subject of the Nobel Prize winning research led by Prof. Geim and Prof. Novoselov at The University of Manchester. Graphene was first isolated in Manchester in 2004 using the ‘Sellotape technique’, but the history of graphene dates back over 50 years. 

This lecture took place in June 2016 and will be available to watch soon.

 

SpiNNaker and the Human Brain Project - Now available to catch up!

Professor Steve Furber described the latest developments in research aimed at building a machine that can mimic the biological structure and behaviour of the human brain.

This lecture took place in June 2016 and it is now available to watch.

The 2016 Friends of the IET Manchester Network Annual Dinner was held on 14 April at the Hilton Hotel.  
Over 300 people attended the dinner which was compered by Timandra Harkness a Science Presenter and the guest speaker was Rhys Phillips, IET volunteer and also a Science Presenter.  

The Network would like to record their thanks to all the companies who sponsored tables at the dinner the individual members and Network volunteers who also supported the event and the two key sponsors SPIE and IET Partnerships for their additional sponsorship.
