The IET’s Railway Annual Lecture is one of the calendar’s key networking events for the railway sector.

This years’ lecture will be given by Dyan Crowther, CEO HS1 who will draw upon her years’ of experience in the rail industry to present this talk.

Title:  Powering Continents: The future of high-speed rail and its role in the global economy 
With high-speed rail networks growing at an impressive rate, High Speed 1 (HS1) Ltd Chief Executive, Dyan Crowther, will be discussing the role that high-speed rail has to play as an enabler for socio-economic growth, both in the UK and around the globe. Drawing on her experience of more than 30 years in the rail industry, Dyan will outline the challenges faced in realising the technology’s full potential, explore the technical solutions to combatting these and offer her insights into why overcoming these challenges is essential to the future growth of the communities it serves.

Speaker:  Dyan Crowther - Chief Executive Officer - HS1

Prior to joining HS1, Dyan was the Chief Operating Officer at Govia Thameslink Railway. 

Dyan has worked in several Senior Director roles at Network Rail including Director of Operations and being accountable for the West Coast Main Line. She has over 30 years’ experience in the rail industry. 

Dyan, 55, has a Masters in Transport and Logistics from Salford University and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Marketing and Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management. 

Dyan has extensive experience in the Boardroom having sat on the Board of an NHS Trust for 5 years, been a Trustee for the Railway Children registered charity and is currently a member of the British Transport Police Authority, NED for East West Railway and a Trustee for Women in Rail. 

Originally from Wiltshire, Dyan is married and has three children and enjoys running, extreme walking and travel.
