1.         Professor Graham MACHIN, Head of Temperature Standards and NPL Fellow, National Physical Laboratory, UK
2.         Mr Julian CHEUNG, Electronics Engineer, SCL

Synopsis of the Seminar:

In November 2018, the General Conference of Weights and Measures (CGPM) redefined the International System of Units (the SI) in terms of a defined set of fundamental constants.  The revision will be implemented worldwide on 20 May 2019.  The kelvin (K), SI unit of temperature, from that time on will be defined in terms of a fixed numerical value of the Boltzmann constant.  Professor MACHIN will introduce how the international temperature community has approached the kelvin redefinition and discuss the short, medium and long term implications of the kelvin redefinition.  Mr Julian CHEUNG will share his experience on the calibration of a temperature chamber and a stirred liquid bath.
