Impostor Phenomenon - Women in STEM: Assistance Required

Former Community Member

Hello,

I have received the following request from Dr Theresa (Terri) Simpkin, Senior Lecturer, Leadership and Corporate Education:

''I'm working on an investigation into the Impostor Phenomenon in women in STEM occupations and I am currently gathering the data for research papers and a book.  The questionnaire is the very same one used by Pauline R Clance, the researcher who first coined the moniker Impostor Phenomenon in the 1970's.

I'm just about to close off the data gathering and was hoping to achieve another 40 or so responses in addition to the nearly 500 I have from women all over the world.

If you would be so kind as to take the test (it takes about 8 minutes and is totally anonymous) and perhaps pass on to your female colleagues in IET, I'd be very grateful.

Here is a link to the questionnaire https://www.quiz-maker.com/QUB0API and here is some more material that provides some background to the research programme and why it's important https://spark.adobe.com/page/Z2JdkrmlE95nB/

Please note that the research complies with ethics requirements of Anglia Ruskin University and is a bona fide empirical study.  The online link does not provide any identifying data and no personal contact details are requested.''

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them in this thread.  Alternatively, please e-mail me at womensnetwork@theiet.org

Best wishes,

Jo
