Emergent properties of complex systems are becoming an increasingly important topic as systems grow in complexity. Interaction is often in ways which are not present in individual system components and may not have been expected by system designers.

We are looking for volunteers to help us develop high-level guidance that supports engineering communities in this field, building on the outputs from existing work.

This working group reports to our Engineering Safety Policy Panel.

Existing members include engineering safety experts from industry, academia, government bodies, and the medical profession.

Whilst volunteer positions are not remunerated, you will gain a lot from working with specialist colleagues.

We recognise your busy lives, so monthly meetings only last 60 minutes on average, with 1-2 hours spent working on outputs between meetings.

If you are interested, please send a brief CV to sep@theiet.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
