If you are able to support any of the following events, please contact Anne Bailey (abailey@formthefuture.org.uk) directly.

Careers carousel at Melbourn Village College on Oct 9th

This is a great opportunity to work with year 9 students before they make their GCSE choices later in the year. The format is a careers carousel, so we need people who can talk to a small group of students for about 25 minutes, sharing your career path, explaining what you do in your role and answering questions. If you have a short activity they could do, even better. Runs from 8.45-10.45.

Promote apprenticeships as an alternative to A levels or Uni at post-GSCE options evenings

We are challenging perceptions about apprenticeships and want to showcase the wide range on offer in our region. These events are early evening, for students and parents, and we need people for Comberton Village College (Oct 1), Sawston VC (Oct. 6) and Bassingbourn (Oct 8).

Engineers needed at the UTC

Did you know we have a UTC in Cambridge specialising in STEM careers? We are holding workshops focusing on careers in Engineering on Oct 14th and still need a few to cover all the disciplines. If you're passionate about Engineering as a career and want to inspire young people, please sign up.

Play What's My Line? at Swavesey Village College

Also on Oct 14th from 2.10-3.10 we need people to talk to year 9 students about their job. Students ask you questions and try to work out from your answers what you do. You can put them out of their misery if they fail. No preparation required and it's fun!

East Cambs Careers Fair Oct 21 at Ely Cathedral

This is your chance to connect with and inspire over 1,000 students in years 11-13 from five separate schools together with more than 50 different businesses in the amazing Ely Cathedral.

Become a mentor

With support from Cambridgeshire Police and ARM we are launching a mentoring programme for one of our sixth forms and secondary schools. Training will be provided in the next couple of months with sessions running half-termly from January. Please email Anne Bailey if you'd like to register as a mentor.

Offer a work placement

One of the best ways young people can get 'work ready' is spending time in a workplace. Students are eager to get experience in industries they're curious about and they can make a positive contribution. Our own work placement student used his photography skills and took pictures at our events and did a lot of data entry. If you can offer a place to students in years 10-13, please email Anne Bailey.
