Use of Airships

I was pleased to see the video of the Airlander 10 on its first flight round the airfield where I worked in the summer of '82 for Airship Industries.

I found this interesting https://www.hybridairvehicles.com/downloads/download/FMA%20magazine_Fall2016_Prentice.pdf

Airships are best in calm weather for ease of take off or landing and given their low cruising altitude. So they would appear to have a limited part to play for global transportation. Airships will probably need to land to avoid storms and continue flying when the fine weather returns.
  • David,

Thanks for sharing this interesting article by Dr Barry Prentice with the Aerospace community.  There's some interesting developments going on around the world with airships and I hope we get to see more of them flying around the skies in the near future.
