Continuing Professional Development

Understanding Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is something that all IET members should be undertaking as part of their professional lives. Whether you are a graduate, professionally registered or retired, CPD is important for all engineers and technicians.  Starting January 2017, an annual CPD review is being introduced by the IET in response to objectives introduced by the Engineering Council.  There is a  short video on IET TV at https://tv.theiet.org/?videoid=7421  to explain the requirements for CPD and how easy it is to meet them. On the video, the IET’s Professional Development Manager, Dick Bacon, answers some frequently asked questions about CPD, and help you to identify what activities count towards your annual CPD hours, and where to record them.

The IET's guide to CPD is available at IET CPD.
