Urgent: Volunteer with IET at Maker Faire, Derby, Sat 27 Oct '18 + future events

Sat 27 Oct 2018: Maker Faire, Eagle Market, Derby (electronics/coding/hoop-gliders/careers)
URGENT, SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED – please e-mail stephen.powley@ietvolunteer.org if you can help
IET volunteers will be showing visitors young and old how to make simple, real-world microcontroller based devices. Young people and their families can connect sensors and output devices to microcontrollers and write simple code to make them work e.g. light/moisture detector, turning on a pump (drinks dispenser). There will also be careers info and hoop glider giveaways to make and fly.
No special skills required, but some knowledge of simple electronics and/or basic coding principles would be a bonus. Please share with colleagues and friends, they don't have to be IET members.

Can't make it on Saturday? Join us at a future event:

Sat 09 Mar: IET Robot Day, Coventry Transport Museum (diverse roles)
We’ve partnered with IET Schools Liaison volunteers in Coventry & Warwickshire and Coventry University to create a new Robot Day to complement the original in Derby. The format will be the same as Derby, with a different set of activities and exhibits. We’d welcome volunteers and exhibitors from all areas who would like help our volunteering colleagues get their new event off the ground.

Thu 28 Jun: Big Bang Fair, Derby (diverse roles)
A date for your diary – we’ll be back at Big Bang Fair as usual. The specific activity is not yet planned, but no special skills are needed for this event. We are open to ideas for new activities, so get in touch if you have any suggestions.

Sat 06 July: IET Robot Day, QUAD Derby (diverse roles)
The grand finale of this academic year will be the fourth instalment of Robot Day Derby. We’re back at our new home at QUAD and plan to once again make it bigger and better than ever. This year we welcomed well in excess 1500 visitors!
We are looking for exhibitors, competitors, and general volunteers (there are lots of roles, no special skills required). Please share this call if you know of anyone who may be interested in taking part.
