Despite the distractions of the current situation, the IAF Student Paper Competition again had a very good level of entries this year; our thanks are due to all the students and their supervisors who helped make this a very high-standard competition. The BIS would also like to extend its thanks to the IET for co-sponsorship and adjudication, and to UKSEDS and the Space Universities Network (SUN) for assisting with the judging.  On 2 May, three undergraduates and three postgraduates faced this intimidating panel of judges in the UK final.   read more...

IET Stand at UKSEDS 2020
Together with Sarah Pickett one of the IET Satellite Technical Network volunteers and Lydia Vaton, IET Student Co-ordinator, I attended the UKSEDS 2020 conference at Birmingham University on 8 March.  The previous day, Chris Brunskill and Paul Wells, two of the other volunteers had done the honours and looked after the IET's stand. read more...

Satellite Executive team photo
We tried, but we could only make it as far as the lovely roof terrace at IET Savoy Place!  We had an excellent Executive team meeting on 12 February 2020 and were pleased to welcome Dave Orr our new volunteer from One Web and also David McQuiggan our volunteer based out in Southern California who was over here for other meetings.  In addition to the roof we also managed to get them together outside the Faraday Centre.   read more...

I recently attended the UKSEDS Space Conference up in Edinburgh on 2 March 2019.  It’s the first conference I’ve ever been to and I had a great time meeting all the other exhibitors, together with lots of amazing students. read more...
