  • Welcome Back... To Engineering Communities!
    Some of you may have noticed the site went down for maintenance yesterday afternoon as we completed the go-live.  It was a late night for some of us on the project team, and we appreciate there will be a few niggles and tweaks we still want to work on, but we were thrilled to finally go live! When you log into Engineering Communities after the relaunch one of the first things you might be interested in is what other users can see about you.  To use a networking tool such as the community platform effectively you’ll want certain things to be visible – so that others can find you, connect with you, and collaborate with you.      read more...
  • Make Engineering Communities your New Year's resolution
    It’s been full speed ahead for us all on the Engineering Communities project team, and it’s nearly complete.  One of the biggest chunks of this project recently has been designing the user profiles.  Because we’re pulling information on users across from the CRM database, we’ve been paying particular attention to things like what you’ll see about yourself in your user profile, what security settings you may wish to alter, what you’ll see about other users, how you’ll edit your profile and how the information can be used to improve your user experience.  We’re on track to complete the project for a launch in early January – we’re aware you might have been expecting to see these changes by the end of the calendar year, but we want to make sure everything is ship shape before we press that big blue button.     read more...
  • MyCommunity change of name
    As part of the MyCommunity development project, the platform’s name will be changing from ‘MyCommunity’ to ‘ IET Engineering Communities ’ to be inclusive and accessible to as many engineers and those working in engineering as possible – wherever they are in the world.   read more...
  • Go compare...
    Since the last update we’ve been working at setting up the back-end configuration of the new community, which is no small feat.  So far so good, we’re addressing key criteria at this critical build stage such as what information the database will be feeding through to the profile pages and how users can update their information.  Every day the simulated environment is looking more and more like the finished result.    read more...
