Africa has many many natural wonders and now with Industry 4.0, it is positioning itself to become the continent of choice in every sense.

With the median age of young Africans to be 19.7 years, the continent has its heart set on creating a professional Africa, one that is open to the world through collaboration explained Eng. Martin Manuhwa, President, Federation of African Organisations (FAEO) at the 'IET Engineering in Africa – Connecting Brilliant Minds & Inspiring The Future Engineering Generations webinar hosted by Yewande Akinola MBE, Innovation Lead at Laing O’Rourke.


Michael Kamau Chairperson, FAEO Steering Technical Committee for Young Engineers, explained that national forums, social mobility and commercial engineering is set to play a key role in Africa's development. He mentioned that the challenges the continent has in terms of Water, Energy, Capacity Buildings are themselves going to go through solutioning and once achieved the skills learned will not only keep Africa sustainable, but also become the foundations of training and skilling the engineers of tomorrow.


Eng. Adeolu Odusote, Treasure of FAEO further spoke about how 'Crises = Challenges & Opportunities' and that's why we will see Africa create innovations that will allow itself to adapt and grow.


Suresh Vishwakarma, Chairman Chartered Engineers Pacific, explained that now is the time that key industries like digital health and e-commerce will provide the necessary socio and economical models for all other industries to consider along with the push into industry 4.0 

that will allow the continent to excel. 


Blane Judd, IET Built Environment Chair, explained that the pandemic has taught us that focus on People, Broadband, Language, Geography and Productivity is constantly changing and that understanding how each plays a role will help all development efforts be successful.


A theme throughout the talk was the need to be 'digitally connected' which allows productive networking, collaboration and knowledge sharing - the ability to have online and digital enablement will play a strong role for Africa's young to continue to reach Africa's potential.
